I struggled for years to find a food for my severely allergy-prone cats. (I have 6 cats, 2 with severe food allergies.) I read label after label, eliminated wheat then corn then all grains and additives, tried 95% meat formulas, and tested for each new protein (eliminating chicken, beef, and so on!). Some things helped, but they did not permanently eliminate the problems.

The vet's only solution for my worst-case-scenario girl (Midnight) was a permanent course of cortisone. She had such severe, chronic dermatitis that I was cooking her fresh salmon every day. (She is my late mom's cat--only 7 years old--and I couldn't stand to lose her.) It was the only thing she could tolerate without developing burning, itching skin eruptions. I was finally considering putting her down when I accidentally ran across Orijen (over 8 months ago) and read the ingredients label. It sounded too good to be true, but I had nothing to lose and I tried it.

Needless to say, I would not be writing this review if things hadn't worked out the way they did. Orijen is the only thing Midnight now eats (aside from a periodic treat of fresh salmon or tuna). She's not just healthy, she's thriving, as are my other cats, who also eat Orijen. (One of my other cat's colitis also cleared up.)

As an aside...my babies are always getting complimented on their beautiful appearance as well--their fur is thick and shiny and they are at healthy, balanced weights.

In short, I highly recommend Orijen--5 stars, with no hesitation! (Posted on 5/6/10)
